Description

Small tissue, 6-lane BxChip® (50 chips per 1 bottle)

The BxChip® is designed to securely retain multiple biopsy specimens collected either directly from a specimen container or from the BxBoard®. It maintains the orientation of tissue samples in a single plane throughout fixation, processing, embedding, and slide preparation, ensuring consistency and integrity at every stage of the histological workflow. Traditional embedding techniques can introduce variability in tissue orientation and lead to curling, overlap, or fragmentation of biopsy cores. This increased consistency has led some pathologists to report higher cancer detection rates when using the BxChip® .

The BxChip® is made from a specialized material that mimics human tissue behavior during histological processing. It is engineered to shrink slightly during processing to hold specimens firmly in place and cut cleanly during sectioning. On the slide, the chip material lightly stains, providing a background reference while preserving the original position of each tissue core.

To support accurate core tracking and orientation, Each BxChip® includes embossed markings. Directional arrows indicate proximal and distal ends of the tissue, while dot patterns uniquely identify each core position from left to right.

This system enables both manual and software identification of each core, reducing errors and enhancing diagnostic clarity. When used with Lumea’s BxCamera® and software integrated into the Mopec Maestro® Encore Grossing Station, tissue placement and labeling are automatically tracked, eliminating the need for manual documentation. As a pathologist designates an area of interest on the digital slide, the software automatically calculates percentage involvement and drafts a diagnostic report draft based.

Is it FDA-registered?

Yes! The BxChip is registered with the FDA. It also has CE marking, which certifies that a product has met EU health, safety, and environmental requirements, which ensure consumer safety.
